2021 WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

Capital Crime is running an exciting new competition, sponsored by Amazon Publishing, to discover new, diverse voices in the crime and thriller fiction community, and to further their writing careers.

Capital Crime is running an exciting new competition, sponsored by Amazon Publishing, to discover new, diverse voices in the crime and thriller fiction community, and to further their writing careers.

Capital Crime Book Club members and festival ticket holders had opportunity to vote for their favourite by logging in and reading the entries. On Monday 13th September the top ten entries with the most votes, as chosen by the readers, were announced:

'The Ice Beneath Me' by Patti Buff

'Wasteland' by Luke Deckard

'The Black Pool' Darren Boyle

'Garotte 2' by Mary McQueen

'Self Help for Serial Killers: Let Your Creativity Bloom' by Mairi Campbell-Jack

'Five by Five' by Claire Wilson

'How Like Wolves' Andrew Fadairo

'The Venom of the Snake' by Marek 'MZ' Turner

'No Time to Cry' by Casey King

The Capital Crime Advisory Board then had the opportunity to read and vote for their favourite entry. Their votes have been counted and you can find out who has won the Amazon Publishing New Voices Awards for 2021 by watching the above video featuring Amazon Editor, Victoria Haslam, and Thomas & Mercer author,

Tariq Ashkanani.

The winner will receive £1000, complimentary registration to the next Capital Crime Festival, a trophy, and a potential offer of publication from Thomas & Mercer, the mystery and thriller imprint of Amazon Publishing.
